ASTRA SHOW

ASTRA / A SMALL RETROSPECTION…

In 1986 Harry Klynn founds his personal vision and sound company called «HARRY KLYNN LTD» which takes charge of all his activities. It organizes and technically supports all of his record and theatre productions. At the same time it  undertook the creative section and production of all of his TV and cinema commercials.

«HARRY KLYNN LTD» in cooperation with  the «London International Film School» and the company «SOUND AND VISION» undertook the production of Nikos Triantafyllidis’s short length film «DOGS LICKING MY HEART» which was awarded 1st prize at the 7th  Short Film Festival of Drama in 1994 and was screened in several international festivals.

In 1993 he creates a new sound and vision company (which replaced “Harry Klynn Ltd”), «ASTRA SHOW VISION AND SOUND» which assumed production for the theatrical shows in «ALSOS» in 1993 and 1994.  In 1995, it collaborated with «SPOT LIGHT» in the production of the TV series «CITIZEN KLYNN» which was screened on ANT1 TV. «CITIZEN KLYNN» was the most popular entertaining TV show of the millennium!!!! (AGB)

In 1995, in cooperation with the Greek Film Center and ANT1 TV it produced Nikos Triantafyllidis’s feature film «RADIO MOSCOW». «RADIO MOSCOW» was honored with the Ministry of Culture’s state distinction, while its director Nikos Triantafyllidis was awarded the prize for best new coming director.

Within that same year Polydor  releases Blaine L. Reininger’s  OST for “Radio Moscow” also produced by “ASTRA”. Two year’s later, “ASTRA” completes its new production. That was another feature film entitled “THE COAT”, starring  Dinos Iliopoulos and Vasilis Diamandopoulos, and directed by Nikos Triantafyllidis. The film aired in the Second National Channel and was sold through Greek National TV to a number of television markets abroad.

In 1999, ASTRA, in collaboration with the Greek Film Center and National Television assumes the production of the new film by Nikos Triantafyllidis «BLACK MILK» which was released in the theatres on the winter of 2000 and met with great success.

Today, “ASTRA” is considered to be one of the most popular production companies in show business. Until now it has presented in Greece a series of  most successful artists of the international music industry, such as Morrissey, Fun Lovin Criminals, Puressence, The Residents, The Flaming Lips, Chumbawamba, Mark Lanegan, Lambchop, Tuxedomoon, Barry Adamson, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Television, Ánn Clark, Stranglers, Beth Orton, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Seeds, The Fuzztones, Buzzcocks, Misfits, Blixa Bargeld, Saxon, Nazareth, Uriah Heep, Moonspell, Covenant, Mission, Steve Wynn, David Holmes & The Free Association, Richard Dorfmeister DJ Set, Kwan, Rachid Taha, Electrelane, Mesh, as well as quite a few of our own local heroes, such as Alkinoos Ioannidis, Thanassis Papakostantinou, Estoudiantina, Himerini Kolimvites, Ksilina Spathia, Diafana Krina, Giannis Aggelakas, Kostantinos B, Mikro, Nikko Patrelaki, and a party for the feature film “O Hamenos ta pernei ola” (Loser takes it all) by Nikos Nikolaidis featuring a live Dj  set by Giannis Aggelakas. Also it has organized two Gimme Shelter Film Festivals, a 6 – day film festival including screenings of 60 or more music films and documentaries (Gimme Shelter has already fraternized with the biggest independent film festival in England, the London Raindance Film Festival).  Also two editions of the Greek Cult Film Festival, which were embraced by the public as well as the critics as the most heretical institutions in Greek Cinema of today. Both of those events pose today as firmly founded institutions as they enjoy great appeal within the hearts of the Greek public.
