AS SIMPLE AS THAT…

Since there’s so much fuss, these days, about this Olympic Games thing, so to speak, I don’t think every little missy or any given peacock can corner us on the radio, or in newspapers and give us a headache  with their precious notion of what’s right, and what’s not… And for what reason should we  spend heaven knows how much so that the immortals in the ION can make an extra buck… And there we go again with the usual “we’ ve compromised our children’s future so that Ms Aggelopoulou can cut a dash” song and dance and other silly stories like it…

And since I don’t fancy talking about the weather, when there are things more important, let me refer to the cost of the Olympic Games, just to respond to you, “sensitive souls” that  protest and go asking to convince us that with little money you can set up “unadorned Games” , celebrations and fun fares of the kind….

Why don’t you give us a break for a start, it takes four euros to pay for a stinking cup of coffee and you’re bothered about spending 3,5 trillion drachmas for such an Olympic fiesta?

You act pissed about making the Parthenon a setting for Coca – Cola, using ancient Olympia as background for “Adidas” commercials, and turning the torch –race into an 2 hour commercial break for products and sponsors…

Well, why don’t you put that finger down, before you take somebody’s eye out… So, what exactly are your kids drinking on their lunch break, lemonade? And what clothes are you getting them for Christmas? T- shirts from peddlars and shoes from the flea market?

I don’t think so. It’s Adidas you buy for them, and Nike shoes with aerosoles!  So spare us the outbreaks, and the preaching about the athletes of the test tube who don’t win their medals with sweat, but with pills and shots and drugs of all kinds…

Which planet did you come from, Bozo land? Don’t you know that the Games are not about noble emulation, as you may fancy putting it, but about high rates and super TV extravaganzas so that we might see something before going for the commercial break? Haven’t you ever heard of “No ads, no funds”?

Now, the “immortal ancient spirit” line is good, I won’t argue with that, but you can’t make an omelet with it… Someone’s got to pay for the eggs… So don’t you pat him on the back and then give us lectures…

I like your style, guys! So why will the “merchant”, meaning the sponsor, the multinational corporation pay for your charges, so that they can lose their money? Is that what you do with your own business?

Wake up and smell the roses! Sports today are merchandise, and the merchandise ads must be dead spectacular if you want to make money out of it. They need “records” And records, you fools, must be broken by even better records if they are to bring any profit… Reasonable, no?

So drop the “boundaries of the human nature” act and all this kind of sweat talk…

No one gives a shit about human nature… Our goal is to make creatures beyond human nature… To manufacture record men and record women… To give birth to superhuman athletes…

Life’s only way is up and if you don’t get it, well then, dream on… We’ll make champions and we’ll be their sponsors. They’ll run “faster”, jump “higher”, hit “harder”

And we’ll pocket the money «better»!
It’s as simple as that…
